1. Hi there! Cheng Liang here. I graduated from NUS with a Bachelor of Social Sciences in Psychology and have been with CNB for close to three years. I’m currently with CNB’s Investigation Division.
2. As a Senior Investigation Officer, I investigate drug cases that involve managing evidence and directing investigations to bring drug offenders to justice. The work is dynamic and demands both mental agility and discipline.
Every lead and piece of evidence requires meticulous checks. Detailed investigations demand careful time management and focus, but over time, I’ve learnt to stay agile while maintaining precision.
Knowing that my efforts contribute to keeping Singapore safe from the harm of drugs fills me with a strong sense of purpose and pride.
3. Like all Narcotics Officers, I began with two foundation postings: first in the Enforcement Division, handling ground operations, and then in the Investigation Division, investigating drug cases.
Teamwork makes all the difference! CNB has a strong culture of support and small gestures, like offering help to teammates, contribute to the positive work environment.
4. Beyond my core role, I have been given the opportunity to be involved in other areas of work. As a CNB Career Ambassador, I engage the public at events to champion CNB careers and scholarships opportunities. I have also been a part of the planning team for ministry-wide events as well as cross-ministry work.
5. Do not be afraid to try and explore things you have not done before. The learning curve can be steep in the beginning, but the Bureau is a welcoming place with many experienced officers to guide you. If you aspire to do something different yet meaningful, CNB offers an experience unlike any other!
