The first British university to set social responsibility as a core goal named the world's number one university in the Times Higher Education University Impact Rankings 2021, the University of Manchester topped over more than 1,100 universities from 94 countries on action taken towards the UN Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs).

The Miguel Hernández University of Elche is one of nine Spanish universities to have registered their carbon footprint with the country's Ministry of Agriculture and Fisheries, Food and Environment. Demonstrating its commitment at the ground level, students can get involved in the #EcoInfluencer programme, which encourages them to raise awareness of environmental problems and our impact on the planet and to undertake training in how to be more sustainable.

University at Buffalo (UB) Downtown Campus is the of its medical campus, which is designed to meet Leadership in Energy and Environmental Design (LEED) Silver criteria. The building incorporates high efficiency lighting, heat recovery systems, and an EnergyStar roof to make sure no energy goes to waste.



University of British Columbia

Since 2010, the University of British Columbia (UBC) has had a Climate Action 2020 Plan in place, and has also joined Race to Zero, a global initiative for a zero carbon world. Additionally, the new Climate School hosts special events and shares stories including a variety of perspectives from global thought leaders, students, and experts.



Arizona State University

The School of Sustainability at the College of Global Futures in Arizona State University empowers students to make a long-term impact in sustainability and innovation. Under this school, students can study courses in sustainable food systems, sustainable energy and sustainability management. They are also encouraged to undertake research focusing on sustainability or to undertake sustainability internships. Student societies include Sustainabilibuddies, Campus Student Sustainability Initiatives and Green Light Solutions.
