National Science Scholarship (BS-PhD)

Value & Benefits: The National Science Scholarship (BS-PhD) supports up to 8 years of undergraduate and PhD studies.

Successful NSS (BS) applicants will be given support* for their undergraduate studies, comprising:
• Full tuition fees
• Monthly allowance
• Annual return airfare
• Pre-studies allowance
• Research attachment opportunities at A*STAR Research Institutes

Further support for PhD studies will be awarded upon satisfactory completion of undergraduate studies and meeting NSS (PhD) requirements (e.g. 1-year research attachment at an A*STAR Research Institute).

*Rates/allowances vary according to country and university, and are subject to adjustments by A*STAR from time to time.
Requirements: • Excellent academic results
• Applicants must be Singaporean. Those of other nationalities must intend to take up Singapore citizenship
• Keen interest in science and research

Bond Duration: NSS (BS-PhD) awardees are required to fulfill a 6-year service commitment comprising:
• A compulsory 1-year research attachment at an A*STAR research institute between the BS and PhD studies
• 5 years at an A*STAR research institute upon completion of PhD studies

Value & Benefits: Successful applicants will be given support for up to 5 years of PhD studies comprising*:
• Full tuition fees
• Monthly sustenance allowance, inclusive of CPF contribution (where applicable)
• Monthly overseas living allowance
• Annual return airfare
• Other allowances including:
  - Conference allowance
  - Thesis allowance
  - Book allowance
  - Computer allowance
  - Warm clothing and settling-in allowance

*Rates/allowances vary according to country and university, and are subject to adjustments by A*STAR from time to time.
Requirements: • Applicants must be Singaporean. Those of other nationalities must intend to take up Singapore citizenship
• Strong interest in a research career
• Outstanding undergraduate results (preferably 1st Class Honours Degree or equivalent) in relevant disciplines
• Obtain good GRE scores
• Applied or applying for a PhD programme at a top global university

A*STAR Computing And Information Science (ACIS) Scholarship

Courses / Disciplines: • Computing and Information Science

Value & Benefits: Successful applicants will be given support for up to 5 years of PhD studies comprising*:
• Full tuition fees
• Monthly sustenance allowance, inclusive of CPF contribution (where applicable)
• Monthly overseas living allowance
• Annual return airfare
• Other allowances including:
  - Conference allowance
  - Thesis allowance
  - Book allowance
  - Computer allowance
  - Warm clothing and settling-in allowance

*Rates/allowances vary according to country and university, and are subject to adjustments by A*STAR from time to time.
Requirements: • Applicants must be Singaporean. Those of other nationalities must intend to take up Singapore citizenship
• Satisfy the criteria for and gain admission to a PhD programme* in one of the following schools:
  - NTU School of Computer Science and Engineering
  - NUS School of Computing
  - SMU School of Information Systems
  - SUTD Information Systems Technology and Design Pillar
• At least 2nd Upper Class Honours Degree or equivalent in relevant disciplines
• Strong interest to pursue a CIS research career in industry R&D labs, technology enterprises, spin-off companies and/or academia

Bond Duration: Singaporeans (at the point of award): No service commitment

Non-Singaporeans (at the point of award): 2 years in a Singapore-based company^ without commitment to any specific organization. The area of work should preferably be in CIS disciplines.

^ Singapore-based companies refer to local companies and international companies that have a base in Singapore and which is registered with the Accounting & Corporate Regulatory Authority (ACRA).

A*STAR Graduate Scholarship (AGS)

Courses / Disciplines: • Biomedical Sciences
• Physical Sciences & Engineering
Universities / Institutions: • Duke-NUS
• Nanyang Technological University (NTU)
• National University of Singapore (NUS)
• Singapore Management University (School of Information Systems) (SMU)
• Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD)
Value & Benefits: Successful applicants will be given support* for up to 4 years of PhD studies. They will receive:
• Full tuition fees
• Monthly sustenance allowance, inclusive of CPF contribution (where applicable)
• Other allowances include:
  - Book allowance
  - Computer allowance
  - Conference allowance
  - Miscellaneous allowance
  - Thesis allowance
• Support for up to 12 months of overseas attachment AGS scholars are eligible for up to 2 years of postdoctoral fellowship under AGS (PDF).

Requirements: • Applicants must be Singaporean. Those of other nationalities must intend to take up Singapore citizenship
• Satisfy criteria for and gain admission to PhD programme in an autonomous university
• At least 2nd Upper Class Honours Degree or equivalent in relevant disciplines
• Strong interest in a research career
