Regardless of whether you are bent on pursuing a scholarship, are still sitting on the fence or have no intention to pursue one at this point, we’re glad this magazine is in your hands.

This feature presents you with insights of over 50 scholars who were in your shoes once – fresh out of Junior College / Polytechnic and raring to step into University. They did decide to take on a scholarship and, today, are able to share with us the enriching experiences that have filled their respective journeys.

Each scholar has unique stories to share – for instance, OCBC Scholar Indra Chen tells us how she is well on her way to becoming a professional Guzheng musician, and HPB Scholar Caleb Teo enthuses over his experience at HPB’s anti-binge drinking campaign even before he began his career. We also hear from IE Singapore Scholar Faridah Mohd Saad who has travelled to 11 countries for business trips, speaks three languages for work and has just become Centre Director at IE Singapore’s Johannesburg office!

And while you’re flipping through those pages, don’t forget to turn to page 104 to marvel at AVA Scholar Dr Han’s active involvement in AVA’s diverse animal farms. Or if your passions lie in the healthcare sector, learn about the rewarding roles our Healthcare Scholars play at work and in shaping Singapore’s future healthcare sector.

Our meet-ups with these interesting scholars have certainly enabled us to identify the traits that make a scholar – traits that you must take effort to cultivate. Also, allow us to offer our own two cents’ worth on what every scholarship applicant should know before applying for a scholarship.

And so I leave you to flip through the pages of this magazine, with the hope that you feel inspired, empowered and better aware of the numerous benefits each scholarship brings.

“And in the end, we only regret the chances we did not take.”
