NUHS offers Nursing, Allied Health and Pharmacy sponsorships.

  • Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident
  • Meet academic entry criteria for the education institution of your choice
  • Possess good co-curricular activities (CCA) and leadership record
  • Students who are keen to apply for mid-term sponsorship to complete at least one semester/trimester of study in Health Science disciplines at either local ITEs, polytechnics, or local universities

There is no age limit as long as you meet the requirements for application.

You will require the following documents:

  • GCE ‘O’ Level certificate
  • Secondary school CCA and CIP records
  • Certificates for GCE ‘A’ Level or equivalent qualifications (such as IB, NUS High, Polytechnic)
  • ‘A’ Level (or equivalent)/Polytechnic CCA and CIP Records
  • Latest JC2 Prelim/IB/NUS High/Polytechnic Results (for applicants applying before the release of their final results)
  • National Service Transcripts and Certificates (if applicable)
  • School Graduation Certificates and Teachers’ Testimonials (where available)
  • Testimonials/Certificates for Healthcare Attachments/Internships/Job Shadowing programmes etc. (where available)

The NUHS Sponsorship bond tenure is determined by the duration of your sponsorship, with the service commitment being equal to the number of years you received the sponsorship, up to a maximum of 4 years.

No, the NUHS Sponsorship will be awarded based on your course of study. For example, Diploma in Nursing is a 3-year programme and the NUHS Sponsorship will be 3 years.

Different academic institutions have varying arrangements for pursuing honors (if any), so students must verify the qualifying requirements before raising the request to pursue honors with their sponsoring institutions. Any requests to pursue honors will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Students may choose their preferred institution under NUHS, subject to availability; however, switching institutions at a later stage is not permitted unless the sponsoring institution agrees to release the student. Any request to switch institutions will be reviewed on a case-by-case basis.

Students who complete their current sponsored Higher NITEC certificate or polytechnic diploma and wish to continue their sponsorship journey with NUHS must resubmit their final transcript to the HR Officer. Any requests for further sponsorship will be assessed by the sponsoring institution on a case-by-case basis. If the request is approved, it will result in an extension of the bond period with the sponsoring institution.

You may submit your online sponsorship application via BrightSparks Website: https://brightsparks.com.sg/profile/nuhs/ while applying for your university application. However, your application will be dependent on whether you are successfully enrolled in a recognized university.

Yes, we will review the application case by case. You should preferably have at least six months remaining of your academic studies at the point of application for a mid-term NUHS Sponsorship.

Candidates should meet one of these requirements:

  1. Good results in GCE 'A', 'O', or 'N' Level examinations
  2. Competitive Grade Point Average (GPA) for Diploma programs
  3. Competitive Grade Point Average (GPA) for Degree programs

Interview Process

Our sponsorship programme is open all year-round, allowing interested students to apply through BrightSparks at any time. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by the respective institution HR, they have expressed interest in, which will then arrange an interview. On-site interviews may be conducted at targeted fairs for nursing students and conditional offers may be made to the eligible students.

There will be up to two interviews.

The interview panel will consist of representatives from the relevant department (nursing, allied health, or pharmacy) and a member of our Human Resources team, based on the discipline to which the student has applied.

The following aspects will be assessed during the interview to determine your suitability for the sponsorship.

  1. Relevant skills and experiences
  2. Problem-solving abilities
  3. Alignment with the values and objectives of your chosen discipline
  4. Presentation and communication skills
  5. Leadership potential
  6. Aptitude, enthusiasm, and drive
  7. Ability to work effectively in a team

You will be informed of the outcome of your interview within a month1. You will also receive a Letter of Award specifying the terms of the sponsorship.

Sponsorship Application Result

Successful Applicants

The conditional offer will be valid for 1 month from the date of the offer.

Our institution HR will reach out to you within two weeks1 to gather the required supporting documents and arrange the sponsorship deed signing. If you do not hear from us, you may reach out directly to the institution via their specific sponsorship contact email.

Your placement will be based on the discipline you were sponsored for as stated in the Sponsorship Bond Deed. For example, if you were sponsored under the Bachelor of Science in Diagnostic Radiography, you will be placed in that discipline at your sponsoring institution. Any changes requests will be reviewed and approved on a case-by-case basis.

The rotation arrangements may vary depending on the NUHS institutions and the specific disciplines. Therefore, assigned settings (if any) will be based on your sponsoring institution. Students should contact their Reporting Officer to clarify on the arrangements.

Any requests to further your studies will be evaluated by the sponsoring institution on a case-by-case basis.

Yes, sponsored students are allowed to receive bursaries/education awards.

General Questions

NUHS is committed to nurturing and developing our sponsees every step of the way, from leadership development programmes and Master of Nursing for aspiring Advanced Practice Nurses.

The sponsoring institutions will coordinate with students to determine the official employment start date. This date is contingent upon two factors:

  1. Receipt of your final official transcript and certificate from your academic institution.
  2. Acquisition of your practicing license from the relevant official certification board (e.g., Singapore Nursing Board, Allied Health Professions Council, or Singapore Pharmacy Board). Once these requirements are met, the sponsoring institution will work with you to establish your actual commencement of employment date.

The MOHH scholarship has stringent terms of eligibility criteria and selection process. The NUHS sponsorship provides an alternative option for students who wish to join healthcare, providing them some aid in financing their education. The students also have a choice to indicate his/her preference to apply NUHS Sponsorship at their preferred institution(s), which may subject to the NUHS interview assessment and selection.

Yes, mid-term sponsorships are available.

No, you may not undertake any employment or occupation, whether remunerative or otherwise, or pursue some other or additional training or studies outside the Course unless sponsee obtains prior written approval from the sponsoring NUHS institution.

NUHS cluster takes a holistic approach when assessing a candidate for NUHS Sponsorship. Beyond academic excellence, we will also consider your interest in public healthcare and other relevant information. Candidates with outstanding achievements in their non-academic achievements, and community could still be considered for NUHS Sponsorship on a case-by-case basis.

Sponsorship recipients for undergraduate programmes will typically take up to 4 years to complete their studies. Hence, they are usually advised to first serve out their bond in the hospital so that they can practise and build up their clinical foundation and skills, before embarking on a professional Master’s degree. With sufficient career exposure and experience, it will also enable the scholars to make a more informed choice on the type of Master’s degree to pursue, so as to better support their professional and career advancement.

NUHS cluster takes a holistic approach when assessing a candidate for the NUHS Sponsorship. Beyond academic excellence, we will also consider your interest in public healthcare and other relevant information. The selection panel will consider the application holistically and ‘O’ level graduates who may miss the academic cut-off but have strong other compensating factors such as participation in co-curricular and community activities will be considered on a case-by-case basis.

Male candidates who are awarded the NUHS Sponsorship will need to fulfil their NS obligations before commencing their degree studies.
