Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship to Encourage Upgrading (LKY-STEP) Award

The Lee Kuan Yew Scholarship to Encourage Upgrading (LKY-STEP) Award was made possible by Mr Lee Kuan Yew, who donated the proceeds from the sales of autographed editions of Volume Two of his memoirs. The scholarship is to encourage upgrading and life-long learning, and is presented to outstanding polytechnic graduates who have performed well academically and attained good co-curricular activity records, and are matriculating into full-time undergraduate degree programmes at the National University of Singapore (NUS), Nanyang Technological University of Singapore (NTU), Singapore Institute of Technology (SIT), Singapore Management University (SMU) or Singapore University of Design and Technology (SUTD).

Eligibility Criteria
Applicants must:
  • Be Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents
  • Have good co-curricular activities records
  • Possess outstanding local polytechnic diploma (preferably Diploma with Merit)
  • Be matriculating into a full-time undergraduate degree programme at NUS/NTU/SIT/SMU/SUTD in the year of application

Scholarship Benefits
  • One-off cash award of S$3,500
  • Scholarship is bond-free

Terms & Conditions
  • There is no bond attached to the scholarship.
  • Recipients of the scholarship (scholars) may concurrently hold other scholarships or bursaries.
  • Scholars who are unsuccessful in securing a concurrent scholarship will have their tuition fees waived by NUS.

Application and Shortlisting Process
  • Application opens on 4 May 2017 and closes on 24 May 2017.
  • Singapore University of Technology and Design (SUTD) is the secretariat for the LKY-STEP Award in AY2017/2018.
