Pre-Employment Grant (Medicine)
This is a discretionary recruitment scheme to encourage good performing Singaporean students studying Medicine overseas to work as a Postgraduate Year 1 (PGY1) or Medical Officer in our public healthcare clusters after they graduate.
Eligibility
  • Singapore Citizen
  • Studying in an overseas medical school recognised by the Singapore Medical Council
  • Applicants must be:
    4-year programme: Students going on to 3rd or 4th year;
    5-year programme: Students going on to 4th or 5th year;
    6-year programme: Students going on to 4th, 5th or 6th year
Benefits
  • Tuition fee subsidy of 60% capped at $50,000 per year up to a maximum of $150,000.
  • Return airfare to Singapore for medical electives done in a Singapore public healthcare institution
Courses of Study
Overseas medical schools recognised by the Singapore Medical Council
Service Commitment
Those receiving a 1-year grant will serve for 3 years, while those receiving a 2-year and 3-year grant will serve for 4 years.
The service period will include the 1-year PGY1 which is served locally.
Application & Interview

Universities in Australia and New Zealand:

Applications will open for 4 weeks in January.

Interviews will be conducted in March.

Universities in the United Kingdom and Ireland:

Applications will open for 4 weeks in July.

Interviews will be conducted in September.

The selection is based on merit. Applicants should possess good grades in their medical studies, especially in their clinical training years. They are also required to undergo an oral interview with Senior Clinicians from the public healthcare clusters and MOH Holdings.
