Education Merit Scholarship (EMS) ( Application till 2023-09-13 )

  • The Education Merit Scholarship (EMS) is offered to outstanding candidates with a strong passion in Education, for studies at the best universities. EMS scholars will be given opportunities to hold top professional positions in the Education Service depending on their performance.

Requirements
  • Be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident who is willing to take up Singapore Citizenship
  • Good character, strong leadership qualities and keen passion for education
  • Strong Co-Curricular Activities (CCA) records
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • GCE ‘A’ Levels, International Baccalaureate (IB), Polytechnic Diploma, NUS High Diploma or equivalent

Bond Duration
  • English-speaking countries: 6 years
  • Non-English speaking countries: 5 years
  • Local: 4 years

Scholars who are not pursuing the Bachelor of Arts/Science (Education) course at the National Institute of Education (NIE) will be required to go through the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) course at NIE upon completion of their undergraduate studies. They will serve a 3-year bond after completing their PGDE course, concurrently with their scholarship bond.


Scholarship Applications

Students who are interested in a PSC or MOE Teaching Scholarship should submit their applications online via the PSC Gateway. Students will need to indicate Teaching Service as one of their top career preferences in the online application.
