Yayasan MENDAKI

Yayasan MENDAKI (Council for the Development of Singapore Malay/Muslim Community) is a pioneer Self-Help Group formed in 1982 dedicated to empower the community through excellence in education, in the context of a multi-racial and multi-religious Singapore.



MENDAKI's programmes largely target the bottom 30 per cent of the Malay/Muslim population and are therefore highly subsidised. They are mostly preventive and developmental programmes to provide early assistance to the beneficiaries so that they will be school ready, able to perform in school and ultimately be future ready. The programmes are designed to supplement or complement national initiatives.



MENDAKI works extensively with partners that share and support its vision and mission. They consist of government agencies, schools, mosques, Malay/Muslim organisations, employers, community centres and MAECs, family and student service centres and many more.

 

Special Achievement Award for Excellence (Non-Academic)

Introduction
The award is to honour students who have done exceptionally well in the non-academic field.

Objectives
  • To recognise the students who has attained commendable achievements in the non-academic field.
  • To inspire Malay/Muslim youths to achieve excellence in diversified areas and be role models in the community

Eligibility Criteria
Nominees must:
  • Be Malay/Muslim Singapore citizens aged 14 to 25.
  • Have attained an award at the National, Regional or International platforms in a non-academic field (please refer to Annex A)
  • Have attained the award in the period between Jan 2018 and June 2019
  • Have attained the award in an individual category
  • Be full-time students and have passed a recent academic examination
  • Past recipients may reapply should they display progress from their previous achievement.
Progress in platform
E.g. A recipient who attained a National award in 2018 may reapply if he/she attained a Regional award in 2019.

Progress in placing
E.g. A recipient who attained a 2nd place in 2018 may reapply if he/she attained a 1st place in 2019.

Application Procedure
  • Candidature for the award is by nomination only.
  • All nominations MUST include Certificates of Achievements as supporting documents of events mentioned in the application form.
  • Third party recommendations to vouch for applicant’s character and integrity must also be provided.
  • Incomplete application forms will not be considered.
  • Please upload the following documents (titled accordingly):
  1. Applicant's_NRIC/BC
  2. Achievement Certificate (Proof of award)
  3. Latest Academic Transcript
  4. Nomination_Letter
  5. Others (i.e. Testimonials and other supporting documents)
