Yayasan MENDAKI

Yayasan MENDAKI (Council for the Development of Singapore Malay/Muslim Community) is a pioneer Self-Help Group formed in 1982 dedicated to empower the community through excellence in education, in the context of a multi-racial and multi-religious Singapore.



MENDAKI's programmes largely target the bottom 30 per cent of the Malay/Muslim population and are therefore highly subsidised. They are mostly preventive and developmental programmes to provide early assistance to the beneficiaries so that they will be school ready, able to perform in school and ultimately be future ready. The programmes are designed to supplement or complement national initiatives.



MENDAKI works extensively with partners that share and support its vision and mission. They consist of government agencies, schools, mosques, Malay/Muslim organisations, employers, community centres and MAECs, family and student service centres and many more.

 

MENDAKI - Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce Foundation (MENDAKI-SCCCF) Joint Scholarship (2018)

Objective
The objective of the scholarship is to reward top Malay-Muslim Singaporeans or Singapore PR students who will be pursuing their undergraduate studies in any of the local universities (NUS, NTU, SMU, SIT, SUTD & SUSS).

The scholarship will be used to finance their university fees or cover the living allowances during their term of study.

Eligibility Criteria
Students in their first year of study are eligible for the award.

Students with good academic results are to be given priority for the award. However if the results are comparable, then those with a lower family income should be given priority.

Value of Award
Four Scholarships of $5,000 (one-off) each are available for first year university students.

Service Commitment
  • Recipients shall complete one community project with MENDAKI within the same year in which the scholarship is awarded.
  • Recipients will receive a free membership to the Singapore Chinese Chamber of Commerce and Industry (SCCCI) and its Scholars Network in the year of award of the Scholarship
  • Recipients shall attend at least one meeting session and volunteer at events and ceremonies organised by SCCCI and/or its Scholars Network.

Application Procedure
The application period is from 15 June to 14 July 2018. Interview will be held for shortlisted candidates.

  3. Parents/Guardian NRIC
  4. Parents/Guardian's latest payslip or letter from employer confirming latest pay or latest CPF statement
  5. Marriage/Divorced/Death Certificate
  6. Supporting documents for other financial subsidy received
  7. All educational certificates, testimonials and CCA records
  8. Medical report and/or appointment letter
  9. Other relevant documents
