Singapore Government Scholarship (SGS)

The Singapore Government Scholarship (SGS) provides highly qualified individuals opportunities to pursue undergraduate studies in top overseas or local universities. The scholarship holders will take on rewarding careers as Senior Officers in one of the Home Team Departments.

Courses / Disciplines:
  • Most disciplines, except Medicine, Dentistry, and Architecture
  • *Applicants intending to pursue a degree in Law will not be called to the Bar
Universities / Institutions:
  • Overseas and Local Universities
Value & Benefits:
  • Tuition and other approved fees
  • Monthly overseas or local maintenance allowance
  • Pre-studies allowance e.g. settling-in, warm clothing, computer
  • Return airfare for attachment programme
  • Scholarship of Master's degree (if requirements are met)
  • Return airfare (for overseas universities)
  • Sponsorship for exchange programmes (if requirements are met)
Requirements:
  • Singapore citizens or permanent residents intending to take up Singapore citizenship
  • Good co-curricular activities (CCA) records and physical fitness (PES A or B)
  • GCE 'A' Levels (with at least 10 academic units), International Baccalaureate (IB), Polytechnic Diploma (with Merit) or equivalent
  • Good performance in National Service
  • Keen interest in a career with the Home Team
Bond Duration:
  • 4 years bond (Local studies)
  • 6 years (English speaking countries)
  • 5 years (Non-English speaking countries)
