Local Merit Scholarship (Police)

The Local Merit Scholarship (LMS) supports highly qualified and promising individuals with an undergraduate education at a local university before starting their careers in the SPF. An LMS scholar will be given opportunities to take on leadership positions in the SPF.

Courses / Disciplines:
  • Most disciplines except medicine, Dentistry and Architecture.
    *Applicants intending to pursue a degree in Law will not be called to the Bar
Universities / Institutions: Local universities
Value & Benefits:
  • Tuition and other approved fees
  • Maintenance allowance
  • Pre-studies allowance e.g. computer
  • Hostel allowance
  • Sponsorship for exchange programmes (if requirements are met)
Requirements:
  • Singapore citizens or permanent residents intending to take up Singapore citizenship
  • Good co-curricular activities (CCA) records and physical fitness (PES A or B)
  • GCE 'A' Levels (with at least 10 academic units), International Baccalaureate (IB), Polytechnic Diploma (with Merit) or equivalent
  • Good performance in National Service
  • Keen interest in a career with the SPF
Bond Duration:
  • 4 years bond (Local studies)
