Social Services

The social service sector in Singapore supports individuals and families across different life stages and needs – including children with special needs, families facing social or financial challenges, isolated seniors, persons with disabilities, and youths-at-risk.
Social service professionals such as social workers, psychologists, therapists and other allied practitioners work collaboratively in multi-disciplinary teams to empower individuals, strengthen families, and build a caring and inclusive society. Today, the sector comprises over 20,000 professionals across more than 500 social service agencies (SSAs).

Social Service Tribe, a movement led by NCSS, brings together like-minded professionals in the sector, united by a shared purpose to empower people in the community to grow and lead lives of dignity.

Growth Opportunities

As social challenges grow more complex and Singapore’s demographic landscape evolves, the sector continues to expand in scope and capability. It offers diverse and meaningful career pathways, supported by structured professional development opportunities.
Through initiatives such as the Social Service Scholarship, individuals can pursue a purposeful career in the sector and contribute to strengthening communities across Singapore.
