The SMI – MaritimeONE Postgraduate R&D Scholarship aims to develop quality local maritime research talent and domain experts to deepen Singapore’s specialised R&D capabilities as a global maritime knowledge hub.

Programmes Supported for AY (2023/24)
Service Committment
To complete the service commitment at approved research Centres of Excellence and research institutes including Maritime Energy & Sustainable Development Centre of Excellence (MESD) at NTU, Centre of Excellence for Next Generation Ports (C4NGP) at NUS, Centre of Excellence for Autonomous & remotely Operated vessels (CEAOPS) at TCOMS, Centre of Excellence in Maritime Safety (CEMS) at SP and iTrust at SUTD. Service commitment may also be completed in a maritime research and development role at a Singapore-based company, subject to SMI’s approval.

- Up to 2 years for Masters
- Up to 4 years for PhD (May apply for rotation after 2 years of service in one centre)
Eligibility
- Singapore Citizen or Singapore PR
- Outstanding academic results
- Must meet prevailing admission requirements for university postgraduate research programmes
- Have strong interest in a career in maritime R&D
