Our Scholarships

Individuals with strong academic achievements and non-academic achievements are invited to apply for SFA’s Scholarships. We are looking for creative and committed individuals to take up the challenge and join us in our mission to ensure and secure a supply of safe food.

SFA offers our scholars development opportunities including job rotations to different areas of work (i.e. operations, research & laboratory, and policy & planning), secondment to other agencies, technical and management training.

Singapore Sustainability (SS) Scholarship (Full-Term/Mid-Term)
Since its formation in April 2019, SFA has joined the two agencies under the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) - National Environment Agency (NEA) and PUB, Singapore’s National Water Agency - to offer the Singapore Sustainability (SS) Scholarship (formerly known as the National Environment and Water (NEW) Scholarship).

Eligibility, Terms and Conditions
Tenable for
  • Undergraduate studies at local/ overseas universities
  • Full-term/ Mid-term studies
Discipline of study applicable for SFA
  • Agricultural Sciences
  • Aquaculture
  • Biological Sciences/ Life Sciences
  • Chemistry
  • Food Science/ Food Technology
  • Microbiology
  • Toxicology
  • Other related disciplines
Eligibility
  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents intending to take up Singapore Citizenship
  • Applicants presenting ‘A’ Levels, International Baccalaureate, Polytechnic Diploma or equivalent
  • Applicants for mid-term scholarship should have attained at least one semester of academic results
Value of award Full-term scholarship
  • Tuition fees and other compulsory fees
  • Maintenance allowance
  • Pre-studies allowance (One-time)
  • Return economy class airfare (For overseas scholarship)
Mid-term scholarship
  • Tuition fees and other compulsory fees (Including backpayment of tuition fees and other compulsory fees incurred prior to award)
  • Monthly maintenance allowance (From point of award)
  • One-way economy class airfare from country of study (For overseas scholarship)
Bond
  • Local: 4 years
  • Overseas: 6 years
  • Overseas in non-English speaking countries: 5 years[1]

Application Details

The SS Scholarship opens for applications from October annually and closes 2 weeks after the release of the GCE ‘A’ Level results in Singapore. Applicants for mid-term scholarship will also apply during this period. The main cycle is offered by SFA, NEA and PUB.
Shortlisted applicants will be contacted before end-April each cycle.
