Our Scholarships

SFA jointly offers scholarships under the Singapore Sustainability Scholarships (SSS) umbrella together with two other Statutory Boards under the Ministry of Sustainability and the Environment (MSE) - The National Environment Agency (NEA) and PUB, Singapore's National Water Agency.

We are looking for game-changers who are passionate in developing solutions and staying ahead of the curve to ensure a sustainable supply of safe food both now and in the future.

SFA Postgraduate Scholarship (Full-Term/Mid-Term) ( Application till 2024-06-11 )
This scholarship is suitable for applicants interested to pursue or are currently pursuing a Master’s Degree/ PhD at a local or overseas university in relevant disciplines. Applicants with a bachelor’s degree in food-related science and technology disciplines who are interested to pursue postgraduate studies in data science, engineering, or bioinformatics are also welcome to apply.

  • Postgraduate studies (Master's/PhD) at local/overseas universities

  • Singapore Citizens or Singapore Permanent Residents intending to take up Singapore Citizenship
  • Strong academic results for first degree in relevant disciplines
  • Have applied / be applying for a Master’s / PhD programme at a local/ overseas university
  • Applicants for mid-term scholarship should have attained at least one semester of academic results.

Full-term scholarship

Mid-term scholarship
  • Tuition fees and other compulsory fees (Including back-payment of tuition fees and other compulsory fees incurred prior to award)
  • Maintenance allowance (From point of award)
  • One-way economy class airfare from country of study (For overseas scholarship)
  • Other approved expenses incurred in relation to the postgraduate programme

Bond Period
  • Master’s: 3 years with SFA upon completion of studies
  • PhD: 6 years with SFA upon completion of studies

The SFA Postgraduate Scholarship opens for applications annually in the third quarter of the calendar year. Shortlisted applicants will be contacted before end-October.

The SFA Postgraduate Scholarship opened from 1 July to 3 September 2023. All applications are to be submitted via the Brightsparks portal. The Scholarships Team will review all applications submitted via the portal and only shortlisted candidates will be notified for further selection. Shortlisted candidates will be contacted by Kosh Consulting Group (Asia) Pte Ltd (KCGA), the appointed contractor before end-October 2023.
