MOE Education Merit Scholarship (EMS) / MOE Teaching Scholarship (TS)

  • The MOE Education Merit Scholarship / MOE Teaching Scholarship (TS) is offered to candidates with a strong passion for education and teaching. The scholarship is tenable for undergraduate studies either at reputable overseas universities or at a local autonomous university, including the specially curated NTU-NIE Teaching Scholars Programme (TSP). As a recipient of the MOE Education Merit Scholarship or MOE Teaching Scholarship, you will be sponsored for your undergraduate tuition fees and receive an allowance. You will also be given developmental opportunities to prepare you for an enriching career as a future educator. After you have begun your career as an educator and depending on your performance and potential, you may also have the opportunitiy to take on key positions in the school or be deployed to the MOE Headquarters.

  • Be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident who is willing to take up Singapore Citizenship
  • GCE A-Level, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, Polytechnic Diploma, NUS High Diploma or equivalent
  • Strong leadership qualities and passion for education
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
  • Good CCA records

Bond Duration
  • English-speaking overseas countries: 6 years
  • Non-English speaking overseas countries: 5 years
  • Local: 4 years

Scholars who are not pursuing the NTU-NIE TSP will be required to go through the Postgraduate Diploma in Education (PGDE) course at NIE upon completion of their undergraduate studies. They will serve a 3-year bond after completing their PGDE course, concurrently with their scholarship bond.
