Overview

MENDAKI recognises and celebrates the achievement of all deserving Muslim students.

Introduction
Anugerah Belia Cemerlang (ABC) MENDAKI (Study) aims to inspire the community towards embracing lifelong learning and support them in their quest towards attaining various peaks of excellence.

Objectives
  • To provide inspiration to the community by identifying and recognising Muslim youths who can be role models in the community
  • To support adult learners to complete their post-secondary education and acquisition of new skills

Eligibility Criteria
  • Muslim Singapore Citizens between 20 and 35 years of age
  • Must be enrolled in a course of study, leading to a formal qualification i.e. NITEC, Diploma, National Examinations (GCE O, GCE N) and above.
  • Persons with good character
  • Must be referred by national/community agencies
  • Must be accepted into local educational institutions

Value of Award
  • Four study awards worth up to $5,000 each
  • Must submit a copy of his/her examination results yearly to Yayasan MENDAKI

Service Commitment
Recipients will be required to complete one community project via MENDAKI

Introduction
Anugerah Belia Cemerlang MENDAKI aims to inspire the community towards embracing lifelong learning and support youths in their quest in attaining various peaks of excellence. This award was formerly known as the Goh Chok Tong Youth Promise Award (GCTYPA).

Objectives
  • To provide inspiration to the community by identifying and recognising Malay/Muslim youths who can be role models in the community.
  • To help Malay/Muslim youths with potential in diverse fields beyond traditional academic areas to further develop themselves and realise their potential.
  • To support adult learners to complete their post-secondary education and acquisition of new skills.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Nominees must be Malay/Muslim Singapore citizens between 18 and 35 years of age.
  • Nominees must be enrolled in a course of study beyond traditional academic areas, such as in the domains of culinary, sports, music, design and creative industries; performing and visual arts
  • The Award will also consider nominations of students who display multi-disciplinarity in their fields of study, combining the abovementioned fields with ICT, an emerging field
  • Nominees must be persons with high integrity and moral character
  • Nominees must be accepted full-time into institutions either locally or overseas to pursue the approved course of study, apprenticeship and skills or talents development opportunities in the field of interest

Value of Awards
The value of the awards are:
  • One overseas scholarship award worth up to $50,000
  • Three local scholarship awards worth up to $10,000 each

Award recipients will be required to provide skills-based contributions to the community via MENDAKI.

  • All nominations must include testimonials of past achievements and supporting documents.

Introduction
The award is to honour students who have done exceptionally well in the non-academic field.

Objectives
  • To recognise the students who has attained commendable achievements in the non-academic field.
  • To inspire Malay/Muslim youths to achieve excellence in diversified areas and be role models in the community

Eligibility Criteria
Nominees must:
  • Be Malay/Muslim Singapore citizens aged 14 to 25.
  • Have attained an award at the National, Regional or International platforms in a non-academic field (please refer to Annex A)
  • Have attained the award in the period between Jan 2018 and June 2019
  • Have attained the award in an individual category
  • Be full-time students and have passed a recent academic examination
  • Past recipients may reapply should they display progress from their previous achievement.
Progress in platform
E.g. A recipient who attained a National award in 2018 may reapply if he/she attained a Regional award in 2019.

Progress in placing
E.g. A recipient who attained a 2nd place in 2018 may reapply if he/she attained a 1st place in 2019.

MENDAKI administers scholarships and bursaries for all deserving Muslim students.

Introduction
The scholarship was introduced in December 2016.

Objective
To encourage students to continue to do well in their studies at the ITE and progress to Higher Nitec and Polytechnic and University

Course
The preferred courses for the scholarship are, but not limited to, Information Technology, Cloud Computing, Security Technology, Cyber & Network Security, Computer & Networking, Interactive Design, Community Care & Social Services and Nursing.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Muslim Singapore Citizen
  • Submit a short paragraph personal statement to express what they want to do after finishing the course they have chosen
  • Obtained good results in:
    • Singapore Cambridge GCE ‘N’ qualification, the aggregate score for Mathematics and best 3 subjects must not exceed 9 points; or
    • Singapore Cambridge GCE ‘O’ qualification, the aggregate score for English Language, Mathematics and best 3 subjects must not exceed 26 points
  • Good academic results will be given priority for the award; however, if the results are comparable, then those with a lower family income shall be given priority

Condition
Interviews will be held for shortlisted candidates after they have been accepted by the institution

Value of Award
  • One scholarship is available to first-year Nitec/Higher Nitec students
  • Each Scholarship worth S$3,500 per annum and is intended to cover tuition fee and living expenses
  • Duration of the scholarship is up to a minimum period of study leading to a Nitec or Higher Nitec or maximum of 4 years whichever is lower
  • The scholarship is disbursed yearly for the whole duration of the course of study, subject to satisfactory performance of the recipient
  • Must submit a copy of his/her examination results yearly to MENDAKI

Service Commitment
Recipients will be required to complete one community project via MENDAKI

Introduction
The scholarship was introduced in August 2006.

Objective
To encourage students to continue doing well in their studies at the polytechnics

The preferred courses for the scholarship include Bioengineering, Health & Life Sciences, Nursing, Multimedia and Animation, Digital Media Design and Engineering.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Muslim Singaporean (regardless of race)
  • At least 2 distinctions and a minimum of a B3 grade in 4 other subjects in their Singapore Cambridge GCE 'O' level examination or equivalent
  • Low-income family will be given priority
  • Must maintain a good academic performance for the whole duration of study at the Polytechnic

Value of Award
  • One scholarship is available each year to the first-year student
  • Each scholarship covers 100% of the tuition fee and/or $1,000 as a living allowance per annum
  • Duration of the scholarship is up to a minimum period of study leading to a diploma or maximum of 3 years whichever is lower
  • The scholarship is disbursed yearly for the whole duration of the course of study, subject to satisfactory performance of the recipient
  • Must submit a copy of his/her examination results yearly to Yayasan MENDAKI

Condition
Interviews will be held for shortlisted candidates after they have been accepted by the Polytechnic

Introduction
The scholarship was introduced in 1995. It aims to reward students wishing to pursue courses at any of the local government polytechnics.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Muslim Singapore Citizen or Muslim Permanent Resident of Singapore (regardless of race) who has been residing in Singapore for at least 5 years immediately before being admitted to the institution
  • First-year students in a full-time Diploma course in any of the following institutions:
a. Nanyang Polytechnic
b. Ngee Ann Polytechnic
c. Singapore Polytechnic
d. Temasek Polytechnic
e. Republic Polytechnic
  • Outstanding results in:
a. Singapore Cambridge GCE ‘O’ or GCE ‘A’ level examinations, preferably with 3 distinctions; or
b. Nitec or Higher Nitec with a cumulative GPA score of 3.5 and above
  • Good records of active participation in co-curricular activities (CCA)

Condition
Interviews will be held for shortlisted candidates after they have been accepted by the Polytechnic

Value of Award
  • Three scholarships worth $2,000 each are available each year to first-year students

Introduction
Before 1995, the Public Service Commission (PSC) administered the Special Malay Bursary (SMB) for Malay students studying in the local tertiary institutions. In 1995, MENDAKI took over the administration of the SMB.

Eligibility Criteria
  • Malay Singapore Citizen or Malay Permanent Resident of Singapore who has been residing in Singapore for at least 5 years immediately before being admitted to the institution.
  • First-year student in a full-time Diploma course in any of the following institutions:
a. Nanyang Polytechnic
b. Ngee Ann Polytechnic
c. Singapore Polytechnic
d. Temasek Polytechnic
e. Republic Polytechnic
  • Outstanding results in:
a. Singapore Cambridge GCE ‘O’ or GCE ‘A’ level examinations, preferably with 2 distinctions; or
b. Nitec or Higher Nitec with a cumulative GPA score of 3.5 and above
  • You possess good records of active participation in co-curricular activities (CCA)

Condition
  • Must apply for MENDAKI Tertiary Tuition Fee Subsidy (TTFS) scheme if the family per capita income does not exceed $2,000
  • Applicants from the low-income family will be given priority
  • Interviews will be held for shortlisted candidates after they have been accepted by the Polytechnic

Value of Award
  • Six bursaries of living allowance worth $1,700 each per annum are available each year to first-year students
  • The bursary is disbursed yearly for the duration of the course of study, subject to satisfactory performance of the recipient
