Eligibility and Application

Yes, you can. The Mid-Term Scholarship is for Singaporean students who are currently studying in a local or overseas university and have completed at least 1 academic semester, except for students in their final year of studies.

The Mid-Term Scholarship value comprises a one-time grant of S$30,000 or S$50,000 (for local university), or S$40,000 or S$60,000 (for overseas university), depending on the successful candidate's remaining years of degree studies.

You can apply for the Full-Term Scholarship at any time before you begin your undergraduate studies, even if you have not secured a place in a local university. When submitting your online application, you must indicate the university and courses that you have applied for. If you are accepted for the scholarship, you must provide the relevant documents (as requested by MOE and your Sponsoring Organisation), as proof of your placement in the university.

You will need to submit the following information in the application form:

  • O-Level and A-Level information. You do not need to submit your results or transcript unless you took the exams overseas.
  • PDF copy of your academic transcript if you have a Polytechnic Diploma, International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma, NUS High School Diploma or equivalent.
  • Intended universities and courses of study if you are a Full-Term applicant.
  • PDF copy of your University Academic Transcript if you are a Mid-Term applicant.
  • 500-word write-up about yourself and your career aspirations.
  • (Optional) Co-Curricular Activities (CCAs) and other achievements or qualifications.
  • National Service information.

The scholarship is open to Singapore Citizens only. In general, the sponsoring organisations prefer applicants who are taking up built environment courses, with good academic results and leadership qualities. We welcome all who have a passion for the Built Environment to apply for this scholarship!

You can apply for the Full-Term Scholarship at any time before you begin your undergraduate studies, even if you have not secured a place in a local university. When submitting your online application, you must indicate the university and courses that you have applied for. If you are accepted for the scholarship, you must provide the relevant documents (as requested by MOE and your Sponsoring Organisation) on your placement in the university.

The approved local universities are SIT, NTU, NUS, SMU, SUSS, and SUTD.
For overseas universities, you have to be studying a full-time degree course in the overseas universities. For further clarification, you may email [email protected].

In your application form, you will be asked to select up to 3 preferred industries and up to 5 preferred sponsoring organisations. Please select “Built Environment Sector” for all BE sponsoring organisations to receive your application.

Sponsoring organisation(s) who have shortlisted you, will contact you for interview. Successful candidates will receive the scholarship offer(s) from the interested sponsoring organisation(s). You can only choose to take up ONE of the scholarship offers if you receive multiple offers.

You will be obligated to serve the mandatory internship and bond period with the sponsoring organisation who has awarded you the scholarship.




Selection

The selection and interview process starts in April and ends in June annually.

If you are shortlisted by a sponsoring organisation, you will be contacted by the sponsoring organisation for an interview.

After the interview, successful candidates will receive a scholarship offer letter and a letter of undertaking from the industry sponsoring organisation. To accept the offer, candidates are to sign and return the letter of undertaking by the stipulated deadline. Subsequently, the candidate and sureties will sign a scholarship agreement with the industry sponsoring organisation.

If you receive multiple offers, you can only accept ONE. You are also not allowed to hold other undergraduate scholarships concurrently.

Career and Development

Our BE sponsoring organisations have various career opportunities, and development frameworks and programmes for their Scholars. Your eventual job role and deployment will depend on your sponsoring organisation's needs. Thus, you are encouraged to discuss and liaise with your sponsoring organisation on your career aspiration and preferences so that these can be factored into your eventual deployment.

As a SgIS Scholar for BE, you will be exposed to many opportunities such as internship with the Sponsoring Organisation, and you will also be part of BCA's Future Leaders Network where there are various activities you can participate in, such as networking sessions with fellow Scholars and BE industry professionals, as well as learning journeys for your personal development.




Terms and Conditions

The Scholar is expected to undertake a mandatory internship with his/her sponsoring organisation and complete his/her chosen degree programme successfully with honours. The Scholar will also need to serve his/her bond with the sponsoring organisation upon graduation.
