Undergrad Scholarships

A*STAR awards scholarships to bright students with a keen interest and passion for science and research to pursue their undergraduate studies at globally renowned universities.

Nurturing young, talented individuals is a key cornerstone for A*STAR because these bright individuals form the future generation of scientists and scientific leaders. We are committed to providing them with opportunities for education at the finest local and overseas universities, gaining first-hand research experience at A*STAR and universities, and learning from the best scientific minds that are dedicated to mentoring young budding scientists.

For Singaporeans/other nationals intending to take up Singapore citizenship:

National Science Scholarship (BS) (2013-2014)

Introduction

This scholarship supports undergraduate studies at top global universities in Biomedical Sciences, Physical Sciences and Engineering disciplines. Candidates will proceed to do a PhD, subject to satisfactory completion of undergraduate studies and a one year research attachment at an A*STAR Research Institute.

Eligibility

Excellent academic results for GCE ‘A’ Levels/ IB/ NUSHS Diploma/ Poly Diploma:
- Excellent GCE ‘A’ Level (minimum 11 units)
- International Baccalaureate (at least 39 points)
- NUS High School diploma (at least 3.60 CAP and merit) for Science and Mathematics subjects
- A Diploma with merit
Singaporeans or other nationals intending to take up Singapore citizenship
Demonstrated passion for science and research

Although A*STAR does not mandate a minimum SAT score as a qualifying condition for the undergraduate scholarships awarded for studies, applicants are encouraged to submit their SAT scores, if available, to be included in the overall assessment of their applications.

Coverage

Upon successful completion of undergraduate studies and a one-year research attachment at an A*STAR Research Institute, scholars will be further supported for PhD studies. Award includes:

Full tuition fees
Monthly sustenance allowance
Pre-studies allowances
Annual return airfare

*All rates/allowances vary according to country and university, and are subject to adjustments by A*STAR from time to time

Service Commitment

The NSS (BS) scholarship comes with a 6-year service commitment, inclusive of one year research attachment prior to PhD studies.

Deadline

Application deadline is extended to 15 Apr 2013. Applications received after 15 April 2013 will be processed for the next Scholarship Cycle.
