Bachelor of Science (Honours) Diagnostic Radiography and Imaging

Programme Overview: The Bachelor of Science degree programme (with honours) awarded by the University of Hertfordshire (UH) is offered in Singapore by Parkway College. It is aimed at preparing suitably qualified individuals to pursue a career in diagnostic radiography and medical imaging, which has good career prospects in Singapore and overseas. The degree is a recognised qualification for the registration of Diagnostic Radiographers by the Allied Health Professions Council (AHPC).

Bachelor of Science (Honours) Optometry and Clinical Practice

Programme Overview: The Bachelor of Science (Honours) Optometry and Clinical Practice is for holders of the Diploma in Optometry, and are registered with the Optometrists and Opticians Board (OOB) as licensed Optometrists (full, provisional or temporary). The programme is approved by OOB as an “Displayable Additional Qualification”.

The programme is awarded by Aston University (AU) and offered in Singapore by Parkway College. The programme is a 360 credit honours degree, designed as a two-year, 240 credit part-time course, for students who have an approved qualification which can be used to enter direct to stage 2 through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). It provides the theoretical and practical knowledge and skills needed to enter work as an optometrist.

The programme is offered as a two-year (20 taught months) part-time course with three stages which deliver the same learning outcomes as students studying in the UK. Stage 2 and stage 4 are conducted in Singapore while stage 3 practical modules are conducted in the UK. The novel mode of delivery allows students to undertake most of their study in Singapore at Parkway College, but also to benefit from the experience and teaching of the optometry experts of Aston University.
Admission Requirements: Candidates must be aged 18 and above, and have all of the following:
• A Diploma in Optometry from Singapore Polytechnic, Ngee Ann Polytechnic or Parkway College with GPA 2.0 and above;
and
• A qualified Optometrist license (Full, provisional, and temporary) from Optometrists and Opticians Board (OOB), Singapore;
and
• A GCE O-level credit in English language or an IELTS score of 6.5 overall with a minimum of 6.0 in each section;
and
• Be Singapore or Malaysia passport holders who can meet the UK Visa requirement for the stage 3 compulsory UK residence training.
