The spread of 2019-nCoV (otherwise known as “the Wuhan virus”) reminds us again of the importance of a robust healthcare system.


With that in mind, we have rounded up three healthcare-related scholarships for those keen to do their part in keeping people in Singapore safe and healthy.

1.     Healthcare Merit Scholarship (HMS)

Scholarship Provider: MOH Holdings (MOHH)

Summary: This is awarded to outstanding individuals who are passionate about Singapore’s public healthcare while demonstrating academic excellence, strong leadership qualities and community spirit.


Starting from 2017, MOHH has decided to take a more holistic approach in our HMS selection where all potential HMS candidates will be first be awarded the Healthcare Merit Award. Post award, all HMA recipients will be monitored for their suitability for an upgrade to HMS during their first year of studies depending on factors such as their academic results and involvement in leadership positions and project management.


We look for dynamic and people-centric individuals who are passionate about Singapore’s Public Healthcare sector while demonstrating academic excellence and strong community spirit. Applicants must:

·        Be a Singapore Citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident who will take up citizenship before embarking on studies

·        Possess good GCE ‘A’ level results (offered at least 10 academic units), polytechnic diploma with merit or equivalent qualifications, e.g. International Baccalaureate (IB) or high school diploma

·        Have good Co-Curricular Activities record

·        Have a passion for public healthcare sector and strong communication skills

2.     NUHS Nursing and Allied Health Sponsorships

Scholarship Provider: National University Health System (NUHS)

·        Singapore citizen or Singapore Permanent Resident

·        Science students with good GCE ‘O’ Level and/or ‘A’ level results OR existing diploma students with Good GPA results

·        Possess good co-curricular activities (CCA) records

·        Students who are keen to apply for mid-term sponsorship to complete at least one semester of study in Health Science disciplines at either local ITEs, polytechnics, or local universities

3.     Raffles Medical Group Scholarship
